About:
HeartCharged has a vision for the impact of Sudden Cardiac Art. While it may show the world the beauty of the female physique, it is intended to show the beauty of the act of honoring a woman and reverencing her worth by taking simple actions which could save her life. This is who HeartCharged is and what journey has brought them to know the importance and potential impact of this work. HeartCharged was co-founded by Bethany & Hannah Keime, sisters and heart patients. In high school, they were diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. This killer condition causes sudden cardiac arrest yet often goes undetected until death. In Bethany & Hannah, the condition was so severe that they received implanted defibrillators. Hannah has survived sudden cardiac arrest because of hers. In other words, they personally understand the need for defibrillation to save lives. Bethany & Hannah created HeartCharged to end preventable deaths and support other heart patients. Part of their work is donating AEDs and teaching people how to use them. They do this through personally training thousands and reaching tens of thousands through social media, employing music videos to educate. Imagine their horror when they found out that multiple international studies showed that women were much less likely to survive sudden cardiac arrest, not because no one was there, not because an AED wasn’t available, but because people refused to perform CPR or use an AED on them, simply because they have boobs. Bethany & Hannah turned their stomach-turning disbelief into the awareness movement, Flash The Boobs to Save A Life. They’ve marched in Washington, DC, spoken to thousands in assemblies, and created numerous posts including clever video parodies to shed light on this sad and unacceptable fact. Next up, Sudden Cardiac Art. |
